Mental Health Week. A cornucopia of nourishing events and activities


There is a cornucopia of nourishing events and activities for you to choose from for Mental Health Week 7th- 13th October! Have a read, check out the links, have fun and stay positive about your Health and Resilience

Monday 7th
All day: Drug & Alcohol information stand, Western Region Drugs Task Force, Áras na Mac Léinn foyer

8:30AM—noon: ‘Me Time’ Take a break in Coffee Online (IT Building) or Moffett’s (Orbsen Building) in collaboration with Mental Health Ireland

1:00-2:00PM Feldenkrais method of Awareness through Movement , Deepens self-awareness through movement, all welcome! Large Acoustic Room, Aras na Mac Léinn

5:30PM—Meditation with Máire, quietness, calm, prayer, Chapel of St. Columbanus

6:30—10:00PM: safeTALK Training : Learn four basic steps to recognise persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them with suicide helping resources. Suitable for everyone who wants to help prevent suicide. Email cindy.dring@nuigalway.ie for application 


Tuesday 8th Oct
All day: Wellness Information stand in Áras na Mac Léinn

6:30-8:00PM: Get Happier by Changing the Way You Think , Paddy Tamplin. Increase confidence, reduce stress. 3 week course. Email cin-dy.dring@nuigalway.ie to book a place

Wednesday 9th Oct.
All day: Wellness Information stand in Áras na Mac Léinn

Thursday 10th Oct
All day: Wellness Information stand in Áras na Mac Léinn

1:00-1:50PM—Free Meditation classes , Moya Roddy, Art Gallery, Quad, all welcome!

6:00-8:00pm Cooking with Kate , free cookery class in the Chapel,

Friday 11th Oct
3:00-4:30PM: Free Yoga Practice , no instruction, just free time to practice with others. Meeting room 1, Áras na Mac Léinn

Saturday 12th Oct 
Kingfisher Club Fun Run in aid of Jigsaw  


Monday 14th Oct
'Facing OCD – the facts and the way forward' 7.30 p.m. O'Flaherty Theatre, Arts/Science Concourse. Éamonn Ó Dochartaigh, a student counsellor in NUI Galway, will give a one-hour talk about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), outlining some of the main features of the condition and describing how cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can be used to help. All welcome
