Breast Cancer and Alcohol - bad news & good news

Well there's no getting away from the bad news: the use of alcohol is clearly linked to an increased risk of developing breast cancer. The risk increases with the amount of alcohol consumed. Compared with non-drinkers, women who consume 1 alcoholic drink a day have a very small increase in risk. Those who have 2 to 5 drinks daily have about 1½ times the risk of women who don’t drink alcohol. For more check out Science Daily .

The good news is that woman can do something to limit the risks. Breastcancer.org have an article on Drinking alcohol which gives advice on what steps woman can take to reduce the risks. Another very positive step that students in NUIG can do is check out the online e-pub.

Stay informed and stay healthy.
